There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could.

So finally on the 24th of May I, along with my dear father attended my official New Zealand Citizenship Ceremony after living in New Zealand for over 10 years. It was definitely a lot less formal than I thought it would be, held in the Council Chamber of Henderson Service Centre about a mere 10 minute drive from my house. High standard of dress code was required but honestly the majority of the people that attended the ceremony wasn’t even dressed THAT formally. Probably around 60 immigrants from all over the world attended that night. Of course a Maori spokesperson opened the ceremony followed by a traditional Maori performance. After that we said our Oath of Allegiance, received the certificate and sang the New Zealand’s national anthem and it was over!
Now I’m officially and legally a New Zealand citizen although I’d probably NEVER ever refer to myself as a “Kiwi”. Next step New Zealand Passport!!
